Der Akademische Senat der Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal hat sich und alle Hochschulangehörigen am 17. Januar 2018 zu einer sogenannten Zivilklausel verpflicht. Diese besagt:
„Forschung, Lehre und Studium an der Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal sind friedlichen Zielen verpflichtet und sollen zivile Zwecke erfüllen; die Forschung, insbesondere die Entwicklung und Optimierung technischer Systeme, sowie Studium und Lehre sind auf eine zivile Verwendung ausgerichtet. Der Akademische Senat lehnt jede Beteiligung an Wissenschaft und Forschung mit militärischer Nutzung bzw. Zielsetzung ab und fordert die Mitglieder der Hochschule auf, Forschungsthemen und -mittel abzulehnen, die Rüstungszwecken dienen.“

AK Zivilklausel – Peace and academic freedom
On January 17, 2018, the Academic Senate of Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences committed itself and all university members to a so-called civil clause. This states:
“Research, teaching and studies at the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences are committed to peaceful goals and should fulfil civilian purposes; research, in particular the development and optimization of technical systems, as well as studies and teaching are geared towards civilian use. The Academic Senate rejects any participation in science and research with military use or objectives and calls on the members of the university to reject research topics and resources that serve armament purposes.”
